Hello everyone! My name is Amanda Turner. I’m a Junior at the University of Michigan studying Sport Management. My time at Michigan is spent everywhere, except my apartment. I work as an Associate Producer for Big Ten Network StudentU, a completely student-operated segment of the Big Ten Network. This past semester, I co-founded a student chapter of the Association for Women in Sports Media (AWSM) at the University of Michigan and currently serve as the President. I’ve had the opportunity to work with Michigan Sports Television (MSTV) as a host of the online segment called “Inside Michigan Softball”. I am now an intern learning the production end of the business. As for my future, it’s surely going to be fun and will definitely involve sports and media, but that’s as narrow as I’m going to get. Right now, I am loving the chance to experience it all.
I am originally from Jackson, Mississippi and am proud to be a Southern Belle. I had the privilege of growing up (simultaneously) in both the beautiful southern states of Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, and Kentucky as well as the suburbs of the great Motor City, Detroit. Quite a trick, I know. That being said, I am a believer in and fan of all Detroit sports (that does include the Lions). I, of course, love the Maize and Blue! Go Blue! However, those southern roots (and two parent alumni) have forever instilled in me a love for the Crimson Tide.
I’m excited to cover figure skating and snowboarding in the coming weeks for the Winter Olympics! USA!! USA!!
